Countdown to New Year's

I hope you had a a wonderful holiday! Mine was quite busy! Between wrapping up last minute gifts (I am the queen of procrastination), preparing our portion of Christmas dinner, and getting the house ready for my mom's pending visit, literally nothing else mattered.

Fastest 4 days of my life. (from Saturday Dec. 22nd through Tuesday Dec. 25th). I got lots of fun things for Christmas though! I got some fun running gear from my mom (new Under Armor hoodie in fluorescent orange, Head running/biking gloves, neck warmer, ice runners, etc.), some fun cocktail glassware from Ktams (so I can entertain properly!), and Gluten-Free on a Shoestring: 125 Easy Recipes for Eating Well on the Cheap from my Gram (love her!!). I also have been thoroughly enjoying a new iPad cover and bluetooth keyboard from my Oma (may have opened that gift early...)

We spent a majority of Christmas Day with my in-laws out in the west side of Portland. We started with a delicious breakfast quiche, eggnog, and then virgin mimosas (sparkling cider and OJ). While we waited for dinner, I read a lot of new books to my nieces, including Giraffes Can't Dance (my favorite picture from that book below). Books are definitely the best gift for the 5 and under :) The mice below were made for my nieces by a neighbor of Ktam's parents. Aren't they precious!? They are Hershey's Kisses stuck to chocolate covered maraschino cherries with Red Hots for noses and almonds for ears!
For dinner, (which we had early), we did a baked ham, rosemary potatoes, ginger broccoli, and a slaw salad. Dessert consisted of a decadent steamed pudding with rum added to whipped cream (pictured above). YUM. And no, it doesn't actually look or taste like pudding at all. I will have to get my hands on the recipe for y'all.

Now we are preparing for 2013! I have already started talking about where I want to go and what I want to do. I have a list going with Kayla of hiking trips and possible outdoors events to attend. I always love planning ahead to fun activities over the summer! Especially after enjoying my first summer in PDX last year! Bring it on!!

What are your plans for 2013?
