A Weekend in Review: Portland Bloggers January Event

We had an intensely amazing turnout for the Portland Blogger Meetup on Saturday--25 people in attendance! The room could barely fit us! I was stoked at what a successful event was put together. My Saturday was a full one. I was up before the sun to get my GP off to Mini of Portland for some serious work (hope I get her back someday) and so until I get her back I am ripping up the roads with a 2012 (manual) Countyman S! It's kinda nice to have back seats to throw things on and the fact that it's got 4-wheel drive, not going to lie. It is, however, lacking the whole 220+ horsepower thing and the ability to make me squeal with delight while I take corners at much too sharp an angle.

After dropping off my car I buzzed on over to the meetup early to get my bearings on what I was going to speak on and make sure the room was in order for the event. Needless to say, we were short some a lot of chairs. The event had originally had 8-10 confirmed and we had planned on having it in the Cupping Room (for coffee tastings) at World Cup Coffee and Tea on Glisan downtown. Can you believe we ended up stuffing 25 people in the room built for ...maybe 10? I can't. Note to self--let's register a little earlier next time people!;) Honestly though, it wasn't an end-of-the-world scenario. We had a lot of people standing and engaging and that made it almost into a nice open forum kind of meetup--different from the ones I had been to in the past. Next meetup's scheduled for Sunday, March 10th! Mark up those schedules and register EARLY--this time we might actually book UP.

After the meetup I went for a leisurely lunch and then to a much needed quiet yoga class at Yoga on Yamhill. It was exactly what I needed to wind back down at home with Ktams for a bit before heading back out to the city for drinks with some U of I (standing for University of ILLINOIS) friends that also just happened to move out here in the last year! Small world, small world. So glad to have such a short trip to the center of the city. It's making me not want to live ANYWHERE ELSE....except maybe on the Max line so I wouldn't have to drive AT ALL.

No worries--I will be  back to my cooking ways shortly--I have a long post in the wings for homemade chicken stock (ah-ha!) as well as one of Ktam's and my favorite dishes (we really only have a few I promise!) So until then--Happy Tuesday!

How'd you spend your weekend?
