| Muse ticket and stage setup |
We had been a little worried throughout the few days leading up to the concert because Ktams read that after the California show, Matt seemed to have gotten sick and we were worried it would seriously change the format of the concert we were about to attend. A couple things to mention about Muse--they are considered one of the best live performance bands out there right now, and they are used to playing for enormous stadiums full of people. So when we showed up to the Rose Garden just before 7pm, we were surprised to see our tickets had been relocated to the second tier because they hadn't sold out the concert at all--they hadn't even filled the third tier! We grabbed our now $80 tickets and headed out to find our seats just across from the stage behind the pit and up a little bit...no complaints!
We enjoyed Band of Skulls as the opener--and having had Silversun Pickups last Muse Concert, I was thrilled. Band of Skulls is a British band that was a simpler sound--and had a decent stage presence. Here is one of my favorite songs by them that was performed last night.
Muse did very well--though you could tell Matt wasn't 100%--the rest of the band supported him and even though it pains my little heart, I know there was some production magic for some of those wailed high notes. Regardless, I thought they played a somewhat balanced show (one could always wish for more old songs but as I kept telling Ktams--then you fall into the whole Smashing Pumpkins situation. Bands have to be allowed to grow and go in a different direction--and even though it makes us all sad--we have to realize that time stops for no one.
I did manage to snag a video of one of my favorite songs off their new album--Follow Me
This doesn't even begin to capture the lighting craziness that is a live Muse show--but hey--I tried ;)
